Issue iII

THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY

This issue has been inspired by the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. What did we want to bring out of it? Its tormenting Beauty, dreamt immortality, utmost desired pleasure, ephemerality of life, art for art’s sake and the battle of the conscience.

This issue, just like the last two and the future ones, contains a novel as the centre of its very essence, Dorian Gray, reinterpreted through art, fashion and music in our TALE, Short Art Movie directed by Antonella Dellepiane Pescetto. Dorian has been interpreted by Margherita Maccapani Missoni and the wonderful location was Villa Panza, Varese.

In this issue we have commissioned, as always, special artworks to great artists, in this case Clym Evernden, who beautifully designed his version of the Orlando Imaginary Hotel, the graphic collective Cabaret Typographie and the book guru Petunia Ollister who reinterpret Dorian Gray in their own style.

Furthermore we are so happy to show you the behind-the-scenese the creation of two illustrated books which have refreshed the image of two iconic classic tales: Pinocchio and Christmas Carol. The magic illustrator behind all of this is Iacopo Bruno.

In this issue you will also have a chance to know the wonderful story of chef Mimi Thorisson, her recipes and her incredible family, the fascinating creative couple behind The Officine Universelle Buly, the charming duo of design Campbell-Rey and the Hotellerie queen Marie Louise Sciò.
