La DoubleJ and Elisa Seitzinger: between Design and Spirituality
There is a unique energy flowing through every creation of La DoubleJ, the brand founded by our dear JJ Martin (interview in Orlando Issue VI) who, from Milan, has transformed the concept of lifestyle into a celebration of the beautiful, the vibrant and the meaningful. With its new collection The Guardians, La DoubleJ explores the possible intersection between design and spirituality, proposing a series of decorative objects – plates, vases and trays – that, more than mere homeware items, are contemporary amulets.
Created in collaboration with another dear friend of Orlando, Elisa Seitzinger, wonderful illustrator from Turin known for her richly symbolic imagery, the collection is inspired by five archetypal figures: the Unicorn, the Sphinx, the Angel, the Dragon and the Mermaid. Each of these ‘guardians’ is associated with a specific energy – from magic to temperance, from transformation to wisdom – and each piece carries a mantra, an invitation to secular meditation and reconnection with one’s inner self. And so every detail, from the simplest lines to the choice of different decorations and colours, has been chosen to evoke profound emotions: Seitzinger’s art translates the symbolist tradition into a modern visual language, perfectly in tune with the philosophy of La DoubleJ.
The mantras of The Guardians collection
The Angel mantra: I invoke my angels of healing and protection.
The Dragon mantra: I kindle the flames of power and transformation.
The Sphinx mantra: I enter into my full wisdom and sovereignty.
The Unicorn mantra: I connect with my inner purity and magic.
The mantra of the Siren: I surrender to the depths of the Divine Feminine.
An experience that takes root
To celebrate this collection, La DoubleJ chose Turin for its official launch. The city, with its balance of white and black magic, hosted the Magical Mystery Tour, a guided tour that intertwined symbolic places, meditation and conviviality. The tour, curated by esotericism expert Virgo, led guests through spaces charged with energy – each chosen to reflect the essence of one of the Guardians – with moments of meditation guided by spiritual experts.
Turin turned out to be not just a backdrop, but a true co-star: from the historic salons of Baratti & Milano, where our dearest chef Mimi Thorisson (interviewed in Orlando Issue III) created a menu inspired by the Guardians, to the Baroque churches and avenues. It is in this dimension that the universe of La DoubleJ finds its deepest meaning: to unite art, design and territory in a narrative that involves all the senses.
The essence of JJ Martin: from vintage to cosmic vibration
Behind every La DoubleJ creation is the tireless vision of JJ Martin, defined by her multiple roles: journalist, collector, designer and entrepreneur. Born in Los Angeles, Martin traversed the world of marketing and fashion journalism before founding the brand in 2015. Every step of her journey, as she had already told Orlando, was an opportunity to learn something: ‘Real people, real women, are the centre of our universe at La DoubleJ. It’s not just about creating objects, it’s about creating connections.’
Martin’s love for vintage was the seed from which everything sprouted: his first collections reinterpreted archive fabrics in modern silhouettes, while today the brand explores inspirations from all over Italy. Each product, strictly Made in Italy, is a tribute to local craftsmanship and culture.
But what distinguishes La DoubleJ is the energy Martin infuses into each project, fuelled by meditation, spiritual work and an inexhaustible curiosity about the world, guided by the mantra ‘Raise Your Vibration’. From the search for a Sicilian convent where to open a meditation retreat, to collaborations with iconic figures such as Nina Yashar, each initiative is a manifestation of his credo: design as an expression of joy and authenticity.
Beyond design: a journey between art and soul
The Guardians is not just a collection, but an invitation to experience everyday life with a new awareness, where each object becomes a portal to deep emotions and energies. Beauty is no longer an end, but a means to reconnect with oneself and the world.
At a time when design risks becoming flattened by the ephemeral, La DoubleJ stands out as a manifesto of authenticity, capable of combining craftsmanship with the power of narrative.
