In the first season of Olympia, we explored captivating female figures: from the mechanical doll in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Olympia, which inspired the project’s name, to the moving heroine Liù in Turandot, and the enigmatic Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky.

After the favour of the first season, Olympia takes on darker tones in a special Crime edition, revealing the Opera’s most grim and unsettling side. Listeners will be immersed in the minds of the most complex and controversial characters.

THE LOCATION
Teatro Sala Umberto is a historic Roman theater, designed by architect Andrea Busiri Vici in 1882 and decorated by the renowned set designer Andrea Bazzani. The artistic director is Alessandro Longobardi.
Sala Umberto has been also a cinema for long time, in the past and again a theatre and it’s renowned to its youth training programmes, Teatro Ragazzi, directed by Livia Clementi.
