CHRISTMAS LAST MINUTE GIFT GUIDE

Orlando’s 10 tips!

Words by Carolina Saporiti

We are used to believing that there are four seasons, but there is also a fifth: it is the season of Christmas and its festivities. Now that we have decorated the house, it is time to think about presents. We have selected different types of items to suit the tastes of all your friends and relatives: perfumes, stationery, blankets, incense… choosing will be difficult.

Pencil Incense

Four scented and decorative ceramic pencils to delight the atmosphere with fragrant notes. Pastel, watercolour, charcoal or paper, pencils are an extension of ideas and thoughts, they are the tools of art and celebrate beauty and fragrance. The elegant Crayons Odoriférants de l’Officine are four long pencils enclosed in a box decorated with red cloth with raised lettering. Made of ceramic, the Crayons Odoriférants are soaked in one of the eight Officine interior fragrances to release their notes into the atmosphere.

A notebook for those who feel like a Queen of Hearts

A small notebook with a soft cover decorated with the Dame de coeur motif, from the Playing Cards collection, with hot-gold edges. The notebook is one of the splendid products made by Antoinette Poisson: in a timeless context, between tradition and modernity, the objects ‘À Paris chez Antoinette Poisson’ come to life.

A Plaid for colder days

Ben Pentreath has created a limited edition with Johnstons of Elgin. Spending some time in the incredible Johnstons of Elgin archive, Ben Pentreath says he was struck by the vibrancy and boldness of much of the historic production, not only the stunning colour combinations of the tartans, but also the fabrics. It was there that this extraordinary collection of lambswool plaids was born.

The perfume for Opera Lovers

Toï Toï means ‘good luck’ in German and is used by dancers before a performance. The Extrait de Parfum is inspired by a night performance at the Opéra Garnier, a mystical and vibrant blend. Waxed wood floors and incense unite the woods. Raspberry, cedar, sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver. The bottle and cap are taken from the original Ormaie Eau de Parfum. The label and box are decorated with gold hot stamping, with brutalist lettering reflecting the high concentration of the Extrait de Parfum.

Futurist Inspirations

Take Bitter Campari in the Clouds (2024) is a limited edition letterpress poster by Cabaret Typographie inspired by the advertising poster of the same name that Fortunato Depero designed for Campari in 1928. Between 1926 and 1936, the artist produced about a hundred avant-garde advertising graphics. In addition to posters, Depero also designed advertising objects and architecture for the Milanese brand, including the design of the iconic Campari Soda bottle, unchanged since 1932. Cabaret Typographie is an artistic collective specialising in graphics and movable type printing, founded in 2010 by Laura Dal Maso, Mauro De Toffol and Tommaso Pucci, between Milan and Paris.

For those who love Shakespeare or Venice, or both

A book that brings together Shakespeare’s plays set in Venice – The Merchant of Venice and Othello – accompanied by paintings of the Venetian Renaissance, creating an intellectual ideal: uniting one of the greatest playwrights and one of the most beautiful cities in the world, while painting a panoramic picture of the arts of the time, with 250 paintings of the Venetian Renaissance. A book, in French and English, for theatre lovers, Shakespeare enthusiasts and those who love Venice.

Cosmic Pyjamas

The Morpho + Luna Didi silk pyjama shirt sports the exclusive limited edition Cosmo print. But to call this garment ‘pyjamas’ is perhaps reductive; it is an ode to the cosmos, to the beauty of the night and to a new beginning in full bloom. Hand-designed exclusively for Morpho + Luna, it depicts the cosmology of the universe with its astrological signs. It celebrates the unique personality of each person. The shirt has mother-of-pearl buttons, mirrored lapels, a breast pocket and tone-on-tone details. The trousers have a straight leg, an elasticated waist, side pockets and tone-on-tone detailing.
